01What it can look like
Common signs of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder
No one has all of these, and having several does not settle a diagnosis on its own. They are the pattern a clinician listens for.
- Starting far more than you finish
- Time blindness — chronic lateness, deadlines that arrive from nowhere
- Losing keys, phones, paperwork, threads of conversation
- Restlessness or a persistent internal engine
- Difficulty with boring but necessary tasks; hyperfocus on interesting ones
- Impulsive decisions, spending, or speech you replay later
- Emotional reactions that spike fast and settle slowly
We do not prescribe controlled medication on a first-visit request without a completed evaluation, and we cannot continue stimulant prescriptions without the required follow-up visits. That is standard practice and it protects you.

Evaluation that takes history seriously
ADHD is diagnosed from a developmental history, not a single questionnaire. We look at childhood patterns, school and work records, current function across settings, and what else could explain it — sleep debt, anxiety, depression, thyroid, and substance use all mimic pieces of ADHD.
Medication with clear expectations
Stimulant and non-stimulant options both exist and both are legitimate. We titrate slowly, monitor blood pressure and heart rate, and check whether the improvement is real in your actual day rather than only on paper.
Refills, controlled substances, and Kentucky rules
Stimulants are controlled substances, which means required follow-up visits, prescriptions that cannot be called in like an antibiotic, and monitoring through Kentucky's prescription reporting system. Our refill policy page explains the timing so a refill never comes down to the last day.
Skills work that outlasts the prescription
Medication improves the signal. Therapy builds the systems — externalized calendars, task decomposition, environmental design — that keep working when a dose is late or the prescription changes.

Do you evaluate adults who were never diagnosed as children?
Yes, and it is common. Many adults were never assessed, particularly those who were quiet rather than disruptive in school.
Do you treat children?
Our practice focuses on adults. If a child needs evaluation, call the office and we will point you toward appropriate care.
Can I get a stimulant prescription by telehealth?
Requirements for controlled substances change with federal and state rules. Plan on in-office visits for stimulant care; call the office for current specifics before scheduling.
What if I do not want a stimulant?
Non-stimulant medications and skills-based therapy are real options, and some patients use only those.
