Individual therapy
Individual Therapy in Louisville, KY
Psychotherapy is a private, one-to-one conversation with a licensed clinician whose only job in that hour is you. No advice from someone who has to live with the outcome. No performance.
What people bring to therapy here
- Coping difficulties — the sense that ordinary weeks have become too heavy
- Trauma, including events you have never said out loud
- Living with a serious or chronic medical illness
- Grief and loss, recent or long carried
- Depression that has flattened everything out
- Anxiety, worry loops, and panic
How it actually works
The first session is mostly listening. Your therapist wants the shape of the problem, what you have already tried, and what a better week would look like for you specifically. From there you build a plan together — how often you meet, what you are working on, and how you will both know it is helping.
Progress is rarely a straight line. Good therapy accounts for that instead of treating a hard week as failure.
Therapy alongside medication
Therapy can stand on its own, and for many people it should. It can also be combined with medication management, which is often more effective than either approach alone for depression, anxiety and PTSD. Because both happen in this practice, your therapist and your prescriber are working from the same plan.

Questions about therapy
How long does therapy take?
Sessions are typically 45 to 55 minutes. How many you need depends on what you are working through — some people come for a focused stretch of eight to twelve weeks, others stay longer.
Do I need a psychiatric diagnosis to start therapy?
No. Many people come to therapy for grief, a difficult diagnosis, a divorce, or plain overwhelm. You do not need a formal diagnosis to be worth helping.
Can I do therapy and medication together?
Yes. Because our therapists and prescribers are in the same practice, your treatment plan is shared rather than split across two offices that never speak.
Is therapy available by video?
Yes, for patients who are physically located in Kentucky at the time of the session. See our telehealth page for details.
