Medication management
Psychiatric Medication Management in Louisville
Every patient responds differently to the same medication. That is not a slogan — it is the reason our evaluations go past a symptom checklist and into how you actually live.
Before we prescribe anything, we assess the whole picture: your symptoms, your physical condition and medical history, the stressors you are carrying, how you are sleeping, how active you are, and what you eat. Two people with the same diagnosis can need very different treatment, and the details are usually where the answer is.
If a medication failed before, tell us
A lot of people arrive convinced that medication does not work for them. Often what actually happened is that the dose was too low, the trial was too short, or it was taken at the wrong time of day. Our specialists regularly revisit a medication a patient had written off and find real relief on the retry, simply by adjusting dose and timing.
What we treat with medication
- Depression, including treatment-resistant depression
- Anxiety and panic
- Adult ADHD
- Bipolar disorder
- PTSD and trauma-related symptoms
- Sleep disruption tied to a psychiatric condition
Ongoing care, not a one-time script
Your first visit runs about an hour. Follow-ups are shorter and focus on what changed: side effects, sleep, energy, mood, and whether the dose is doing its job. If something is not working, we adjust it — we do not wait for you to give up.
If two or more medications have not given you enough relief from depression, TMS therapy may be the next step, and we can assess for it in the same practice.

What happens next
- 1Send a request or call. We ask for your name, contact details and insurance carrier — no medical details.
- 2We verify your benefits and book about an hour for your first psychiatric evaluation.
- 3You leave the first visit with a plan, a prescription if one is appropriate, and a follow-up already scheduled.

Questions about medication care
A medication did not work for me before. Is it worth trying again?
Often, yes. Many people are told a medication failed when the dose, the timing, or the length of the trial was the real problem. Our specialists frequently find relief on a second attempt by adjusting how and when a medication is taken.
How long until I feel a difference?
It varies by medication and by person. Some effects appear within days, while most antidepressants need several weeks at a therapeutic dose. We will tell you what to watch for and when to expect it.
Do I have to take medication forever?
No. Length of treatment is a decision we make with you and revisit at follow-up visits. Some people take medication for a season; others do better staying on it long term.
Can I do therapy at the same time?
Yes, and for many conditions the combination works better than either alone. Our therapists are in the same practice, so your care team shares the plan.
